BASE SET KICKSTARTER - 2020/2021
BACKGROUND
Printed in 2020 but delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the MetaZoo Base Set Cryptid Nation Kickstarter was distributed in March 2021. This is why although the cards say 2020, PSA (Professional Sports Authentication) labels the cards as 2021.
In contrast to the Black Border Sample Cards and the 2020 Haloween promo card set that came before Kickstarter, the Base Set Kickstarter cards wield the iconic red borders of MetaZoo. However, Kickstarter cards were not the first red bordered MetaZoo cards. In late 2020, five red bordered Christmas holiday cards were distributed.
A humble 255 backers pledged $18,249 to help bring the MetaZoo Base Set Cryptid Nation Kickstarter project to life.

NOTABLE MISPRINTS/ERRORS
- Greater than 50% of Reverse Holo Mothman have a printer ink defect (spot) near the bottom right corner, which results in a max PSA grade of 9. Therefore, the greatest rarity Mothman variant in Kickstarter is a PSA 10 Reverse Holo (Known as the "No Hickey Mothman".
- Tripodero was only printed as a Reverse Holo - the non-holo version was not printed. (corrected in 1st Edition)
- In place of the non-holo Tripodero, Earthquake was printed as BOTH a Silver and a Bronze version.
- Both Mountain and Forest Aura are numbered 147 (and there is no 146 in the Kickstarter set). In 1st edition this was corrected, where 146 is Forest and 147 is Mountain.
